Primary Role: Researcher
Arizona State University
I am a linguist by training, but have worked in a lot of different areas at a lot of different universities. Currently I work on discourse analysis in linguistics and on digital media and learning in the Learning Sciences. My most recent book is "The Anti-Education Era". I had wanted to title the book "On Human Stupidity, How it is Killing Us, and What We Might Do About it", but the publisher thought that title was too down-beat. We face massive transformations in our country and in the world because of how little we have done to solve the major global problems facing us. Thus, it is time to stop business as usual (especially in academics). It's late in the fourth-quarter for humanity and we are badly behind because of how poorly we have played thus far. Time to take some risks.
